EOR worked closely with the Lake and Cook County SWCD’s, Technical Advisory Committee and Policy Committee to write one of the first 1W1P’s in the State of Minnesota. This Plan spanned the watershed tributary to Lake Superior from the Knife River south of Two Harbors to the Canadian border. The Plan was approved by BWSR in January of 2017 and was highly regarded as “a plan that clearly presents water management goals, actions and priorities” by the BWSR Acting Chair.
The LSN 1W1P used a process of prioritizing resources for protection and restoration that included value modeling to facilitate an organized process to evaluate priorities and significant public input. These priority resources are some of the most highly valued resources in one of the most beloved regions of Minnesota. The Plan targets projects that will protect and enhance Minnesota’s high quality resources and provides an implementation plan which will enable local stakeholders to secure funding to achieve the Plans goals.
