The annual festival is for children in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. The purpose of the festival is to educate fifth-grade students about our water resources and to present ways they can help ensure a future where both the quantity & quality of water resources are protected and managed wisely.

"Troubled Waters: A Mississippi River Story" looks at the impact of land use on America's bountiful heartland and its effect on the legendary river. Through beautiful photography and an inspiring narrative, the film offers solutions to the river's troubles through fresh ideas and concrete solutions.
The film's Peabody and Emmy Award-winning producer/director Larkin McPhee and University of Minnesota president Robert Bruininks will be on hand to introduce the film. A reception with wine and food provided by Minneapolis' Corner Table restaurant and Thousand Hills Cattle Company, featured in the film, will follow.
Part of the museum's newest television documentary since the Emmy Award-winning series, "Minnesota: A History of the Land." Troubled Waters is scheduled to air statewide on Twin Cities Public Television at 8 p.m.on Tuesday, October 5.
