New Coralville Office

New Office in Coralville, IA - Led by Aaron L Gwinnup, PE

Aaron grew up on a small farm in Johnson County Iowa. He learned an appreciation for nature and hard work early in life by playing in streams, helping with farm work, and also working at his father's construction company. He continued working in design/build construction through his 20's then attended engineering school in his early 30's.

The devastating Midwestern floods of 2008 struck just as Aaron was searching for a masters research project. His advisor sent him on an emergency research mission to follow the nutrient-rich floodwaters to the Gulf of Mexico and measure the resulting near-record-size dead zone. This experience reignited Aaron's passion for water quality, and inspired him to devote his career to watershed protection, design of stormwater best management practices, and the restoration of streams and wetlands.

In addition to his engineering work Aaron currently operates another small farm not far from his boyhood home. He and his wife and three children enjoy raising chickens and goats, and using sustainable farming and conservation practices on their own land.
