BMPs for University of Alberta Farms

EOR designed multiple bioretention cells along a roadway adjacent to University of Alberta Farms. EOR staff analyzed runoff from the road right-of-way and farm property to design and site stormwater best management practices. A custom inlet configuration was created for capturing roadway runoff and directing it to bioretention basins. Planting plans including hearty, native vegetation suitable for the proposed hydrologic conditions beautify the roadway and provide multiple ecological benefits.

Client Benefits

  • Salt tolerant native vegetation provides pollinator habitat along farm perimeter.
  • Deep rooted native planted thrive in stormwater basin and increase infiltration of soils over time.
  • Captured runoff reduces pressure on combined storm sewer system.
