Fancy Creek Remeander
EOR completed the final design for the Fancy Creek Remeandering project. The project reconnected over 6,500 feet of abandoned meander channel by diverting streamflow from an incised, low-habitat ditch that was dug in the 1940s.
In addition to improving stream habitat, the project reconnected the creek with its floodplain and raised the water table in the adjacent wetland, helping to attenuate flashy flood flows and rewetting remnant sedge communities. EOR’s services included topographic and geomorphic survey, soils investigation, leading conceptual design workshops and discussions, 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling, permitting support, creating final design construction documents, and construction oversight.
