Plant Maintenance Manual for LID Design

Plant Maintenance Manual for LID Design in Alberta

EOR created a plant maintenance guide specific to low impact development (LID) applications in Edmonton, Alberta. LID practices included bioretention and infiltration in the urban context. The guide featured detail pages about the most used plants for LID applications as well as sections about common pests, diseases, and specific maintenance challenges such as drought and weed infestation (and how to manage them).

This maintenance guide is arranged by plant type (forbes, grasses & sedges, shurbs, and spreading ground cover) and highlights best placements within LID locations for each plant, as well as their growing needs. Easy to use guide features extensive plant photos and coordinated graphics for ease of use and understanding, as well as a list of additional useful plant references.

Client Benefits

  • Standardized list of native plant materials increases simplicity of design and maintenance for future stormwater facilities.
  • Plant guide addresses key challenges faced by maintenance staff and provides solutions.
