EOR's landscape architects designed a new ADA-accessible entrance for the historic Sauk County Courthouse in downtown Baraboo, Wisconsin. The design integrates accessible ramps, landings, and site furnishings in a palette of materials sympathetic to the courthouse's civic architecture, ensuring the new entrance feels like a natural extension of the building rather than a modern retrofit. Situated prominently on Baraboo's downtown square, the project demanded close attention to the surrounding urban context. EOR worked to preserve existing mature trees on the site, designing grading and hardscape elements around their root zones to maintain the canopy that contributes to the courthouse's distinguished presence. The result is an entrance sequence that is welcoming, fully accessible, and respectful of both the building's historic identity and the broader character of the community it serves.
