EOR is looking for an individual to collaborate with diverse teams of engineers and scientists, completing water resources engineering and related technical assignments. Project work may include water quality analysis in urban and/or rural settings; siting and feasibility analysis for optimization of retrofit stormwater BMPs, hydrologic analysis related to stormwater management and flood control; hydraulic analysis and design related to stormwater BMPs, river and stream restoration, conveyances, dams, and other hydraulic structures; and preparation of technical reports, construction plans and specifications. This position will also include limited assistance with development reviews and site investigations to support watershed district programs. This position will include supporting senior partners with company liaison to clients. Attendance of client meetings may be routine. Primary Responsibilities
- Use stormwater models to assess and optimize stormwater management systems performance
- Identify phosphorus load reduction opportunities, estimate BMP efficacy and progress towards TMDL load allocations
- Inform preliminary and final design of stormwater BMPs such as infiltration and biofiltration basins, iron-enhanced sand filters, and stormwater treatment wetlands
- Assess resiliency of existing stormwater infrastructure to climate change and future development
- Optimize stormwater conveyance system design to mitigate flooding
- Support development of stormwater models (hydrologic/hydraulic and water quality) and analysis of stormwater conveyance systems (Pipe-flow and Open Channel hydraulics)
- Process GIS, monitoring, and survey data for use in stormwater modeling

Essential Functions
- Research and obtain documents/data including: Gopher State One Call utility locates, section corner ties, plats, control points, benchmarks, as-built plans, zoning information, FEMA maps, aerial mapping, etc.
- Lead deed research, boundary analysis, easement preparations, legal descriptions, and computing survey points
- Lead topographic and boundary surveys, ALTA/ASCM surveys, elevation certificates, volume surveys, construction staking, etc.
- Assist design team with CAD productions and base drawing set up
- Perform pre-construction staking, construction staking and as-builts
- Consult with clients, project managers, team members and site superintendents/construction crews on projects
- Complete QA/QC and redlines checks
- Coordinate and work with field crews and other office staff
- Provides strategic leadership of company surveying services.
- Assist in market development activities, such as reviewing RFPs and generating estimates and proposals
Required Qualifications
- Registered Land Surveyor Licensure in MN or ability to obtain within 6 months from date of employment

Environmental/Wetland Scientist
Emmons & Olivier Resources, Inc. (EOR) has an opening for an Environmental/Wetland Scientist in our Boone/Des Moines IA office. EOR is an engineering and environmental consulting firm that specializes in: WATER (watersheds + water resources), ECOLOGY (ecosystems, natural resources + renewable energy) and COMMUNITY (civil engineering, landscape architecture + planning). View Position DetailsBrief Description:
This position will support a team of engineers and scientists with environmental permitting and design, as well as resource inventory and assessment, for work with renewable energy and utility clients, along with other types of innovative projects of varying scale. The ideal candidate has prior consulting experience working on utility development projects and a sound overall knowledge of applicable regulatory programs. Must thrive in a small company environment, which requires a well-rounded skill set, the ability to multitask, and the desire to explore innovative designs, processes, and ideas. Candidate should be detail orientated and able to both work independently and collaboratively with large teams. Wetland science/delineation, hydrology, and soil science backgrounds are also desirable.
Education/Experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, natural resources, or other physical/biological sciences field
- 1-3 years of experience conducting field work, including ecological field studies, archaeological/cultural resource studies, habitat assessment, and wetland delineations
- 1-3 years of experience and/or strong technical background in permitting energy projects
Education/Experiences preferred:
- Working towards or recognized as a Certified Wetland Specialist
- At least 1 year of experience with being a wetland lead for projects using the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineations Manual and Regional Supplement(s)
- Experience working with environmental, regulatory and land use agencies, such as: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Public Utility Commissions (PUC), state departments (such as Iowa Department of Natural Resources), and State Historic Preservation Offices
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain
- Ability to work occasional weekends and occasionally over 40 hours per week
- GIS experience highly preferred
- Project Management experience a plus
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to conduct occasional field work (usually 1-2 days/week in growing season)
