Brief Description

We are seeking a well-rounded Senior Civil Engineer to lead and manage civil site design projects, with a focus on solar site development for multiple developers and utility clients. Projects may also include substations, utility infrastructure, sustainable site development, and green infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor staff, and build lasting client relationships.

Must thrive in a small company environment, which requires a well-rounded skill set, the ability to balance time-sensitive tasks for multiple clients, and the desire to explore new and innovative projects and solutions. Candidate should be detail oriented and able to work both independently and collaboratively with large teams.

Responsibilities

• Project Management – lead civil site design projects from scoping through construction, managing scope, schedule, budget, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Solar Site Design – lead grading and earthwork balancing, stormwater design, and construction stormwater permitting for solar projects.
• Construction Documents – direct preparation of construction documents from 30% design through issued for construction (IFC).
• Quality Assurance – provide senior QA/QC review of plans, calculations, and deliverables at each design phase.
• Client Relationships – coordinate closely with developers and utility clients; develop, manage, and maintain client relationships across multiple concurrent projects.
• Business Development – identify and pursue opportunities in solar, utility, and site development markets.
• Staff Development – mentor and supervise engineers in a respectful, collaborative environment that promotes professional growth and positive team spirit.

Education/Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or related engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of civil engineering experience, with an emphasis on site development
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Minnesota, or ability to become licensed within 6 months of hire
• Demonstrated experience with grading and earthwork balancing
• Experience with stormwater design and construction stormwater permitting
• Experience preparing construction documents from 30% design through IFC
• Experience coordinating directly with developers and clients
• Proven ability to execute projects using AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Project management and business development acumen
• Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and analytical skills
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to provide own means of reliable transportation for occasional day trips

Education/Experience Preferences

• Utility-scale or community solar site design experience
• Experience with substations, utility infrastructure, or green infrastructure projects
• Experience supervising design staff
• Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling experience
• Bidding and construction experience

Job Description

We are looking for a mid-career or senior level geologist/hydrogeologist to work with our team of natural resources and water resources professionals. The position will include a mixture of office and some field work.

Our current clients include state and county government agencies, watershed districts, and residential and commercial developers, particularly renewable energy. The successful candidate will have experience with the following:

• Surface water/groundwater interactions
• Developing and implementing groundwater monitoring programs that support the management of groundwater dependent natural resources, groundwater flooding, and drought
• Source water protection plans, wellhead protection plans, and drinking water supply management areas
• Groundwater management plans
• Investigation that supports the design of stormwater infiltration practices
• Impacts of climate change on groundwater quality and groundwater quantity

Office duties will include data management and data analysis using a variety of software, preparing well logs, groundwater modeling, report writing, and marketing support. Field work responsibilities may include (depending on experience level) soils classification, groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, groundwater level measurements, aquifer testing, construction inspection, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, and general field data recording.

A senior level position will include opportunities for business development, project and client management, supervising internal teams, and strategic planning.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of geologist experience required
• B.A. or B.S. in geology, geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, groundwater hydrology, or related field required
• Has or working to obtain Professional Geologist (PG) or Geologist in Training (GIT) registration in Minnesota or Wisconsin. Registrations in other states are acceptable if a Minnesota/Wisconsin license can be obtained within one year
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain
• Able to carry, lift or pull equipment and materials weighing up to 40 pounds over long distance
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to conduct occasional field work (usually 1-2 days/week) including some overnight travel
• Must be able to work effectively independently or as part of a team
• Good writing skills and basic computer skills are required
• Passion for the environment and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned company

• Private consulting experience
• M.S. or Ph.D.
• Mining industry experience
• HAZWOPER training / certification 
• Experience with underground storage tank removal, contaminated soil and groundwater sampling, and pollution remediation
• Geotechnical experience (Soil classifications, designing subsurface investigations, subcontracting drilling companies, interpreting geotechnical reports)
• Groundwater chemistry (drinking water quality, redox reactions, stable isotope analysis, etc.)
• Groundwater modeling using software such as AQTESOLV, MODFLOW (e.g., Vistas, FlowPy, ModelMuse), GFLOW, or MLAEM
• Data management and mapping skills using GIS, GPS, AutoCAD, etc. are required, but can be learned on the job
• Surface water modeling
• Experience with groundwater/surface water interactions
• Construction engineering (Dewatering, slope stability, etc.)
• Project management acumen

Duties and Responsibilities:

EOR is seeking an experienced water resources and/or civil focused engineer who is looking to take their career to the next level. The ideal candidate would have the ability to both manage and conduct project work independently while mentoring other staff on project teams. Education/Experience Required:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field
• 5+ years of experience

• Documented project management experience on projects of varying scope, size and complexity
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Capacity to lead and work remotely with coworkers and clients across our USA and Canada offices

Education/Experience Preferred:

• Iowa A&E consulting acumen

• Expertise with green infrastructure
• Expertise with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling including SWMM

Brief Description:

As the lead Land Surveyor, you will join a welcoming team that embraces advanced technologies, flexible work environments and embodies environmental, social, and fiscal sustainability in everything we do.

This position will engage collaboratively across all EOR’s offices and services areas to provide land survey services. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively manage time and resources in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines.

Essential Functions

• Research and obtain documents/data including: Gopher State One Call utility locates, section corner ties, plats, control points, benchmarks, as-built plans, zoning information, FEMA maps, aerial mapping, etc.
• Lead deed research, boundary analysis, easement preparations, legal descriptions, and computing survey points
• Lead topographic and boundary surveys, ALTA/ASCM surveys, elevation certificates, volume surveys, construction staking, etc.
• Assist design team with CAD productions and base drawing set up  
• Perform pre-construction staking, construction staking and as-builts
• Consult with clients, project managers, team members and site superintendents/construction crews on projects
• Complete QA/QC and redlines checks
• Coordinate and work with field crews and other office staff
• Provides strategic leadership of company surveying services.
• Assist in market development activities, such as reviewing RFPs and generating estimates and proposals

Required Qualifications

• Registered Land Surveyor Licensure in MN or ability to obtain within 6 months from date of employment
• Bachelor’s degree in land surveying or related civil engineering technology
• Minimum of 5+ years of related professional experience
• Diverse survey experience and interest (civil infrastructure, water resources, renewable energy, and land development)
• Experience with Trimble Equipment/Software
• Fluency with AutoCAD and GIS
• Passion for the environment and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned company is a must
